Long nights of Museums

The night of 29 August has 75 participating museums and 750 events in store for Berlin’s cultural night owls.
The Kollwitz Museum will also be open from 6.00 pm to 2.00 am, in addition to its usual opening hours, and will be offering a varied programme under this year’s theme, ‘Crime in Berlin’.

Käthe Kollwitz: marking the 159th anniversary of her birth

Today, 8 July, marks the 159th anniversary of Käthe Kollwitz’s birth – a wonderful occasion to commemorate one of the most significant artists of the 20th century – and, at the same time, to honour her roots in Königsberg.

As a small token to mark her birthday, the first 100 visitors today will receive, along with their admission ticket, a piece of original Königsberg marzipan from the Charlottenburg-based Wald Königsberger Marzipan factory – a sweet memento of the town where Käthe Kollwitz’s life began.
