From June 24 to July 1, 2023, the 49th Berlin Senior Citizens’ Week will take place under the motto “Together instead of Lonely”. This week of events will focus on the many different offerings for seniors in Berlin.

The Käthe Kollwitz Museum is pleased to be part of it for the first time and to be able to offer two 90-minute exhibition talks on the topic of “Talking Hands in the Work of Käthe Kollwitz”, which provide a very special approach to the life and work of the artist.

Käthe Kollwitz repeatedly used hands as the strongest means of expression in her paintings, sometimes gently touching or powerfully demanding. Kollwitz’s work offers a wealth of expressive possibilities to be discovered. In her paintings, the hands “speak” and tell of great emotions. Together with the participants, we will explore the exhibition on the life and work of the graphic artist and sculptor and enter into conversation with each other about the central pictorial motif of the hands.
