Kollwitz in turn returned to her place of training in 1898 and headed the graphic arts class for five years. She counts as one of the most important members of the VdBK 1867. She regularly took part in the exhibitions of the Association and fought as a member to achieve its goals for more than four decades.

The special exhibition “Black + White” features six female artists from the current members of the Association. While Kollwitz mostly used black lines and flat areas on white paper, the contemporary artists sound out the varied possibilities of dealing with the non-colors black and white as well as all the shades of grey in between. Included are drawings, ceramics, a reverse glass painting, and an installation. The abstinence from color challenges the viewer to reflect on his or her patterns of perception in our world of colour.

Most of the works on view were created specifically for the exhibition. Some of them are directly related to the work and life of Käthe Kollwitz.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5920″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]Cornelia Renz, preliminary digital work of “Yes we can (Nemesis als Schnitterin)”, 2021 © Cornelia Renz, VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2021[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5910″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Zuzanna Skiba, from the series WINGS_WHITE, 2020 © Zuzanna Skiba, VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2021[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5912″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]Zuzanna Skiba, from the series BLAU ist oben_Die Landschaft erhebt sich, 2020 © Zuzanna Skiba, VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2021[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5918″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]Pauline Kraneis, Peters Zimmer, 2021 © Pauline Kraneis[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”5916″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]Pauline Kraneis, Käthes Zimmer, 2021 © Pauline Kraneis[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_separator]

[vc_single_image image=”5926″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_shadow”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Special exhibition from June 21, till September 26, 2021

The Association of Berlin Female Artists (VdBK) was founded as early 1867 and has acted as amotor, network and showcase for women artists ever since.
