Here, in 1909, he also made contact with the Ballets Russes, which led to an artistic collaboration. Kainer created spirited depictions of the ballet troupe with their imaginative costumes. From 1910 onwards, he lived in Berlin and worked as a commercial artist and illustrator. Later, he worked in film and as a costume and stage designer.
